SAY Women Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement was written in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998

and the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 setting out how and why we obtain,

use and protect your personal information.

SAY Women is committed to providing a comprehensive support service to young

survivors of childhood sexual abuse, rape/sexual assault, who are homeless or risk

homelessness aged 16-25. SAY Women is a company limited by guarantee and

recognised as a charity by the Inland Revenue, registered in Scotland (No: SC016526).

We are determined to be transparent about how we collect, store and use your personal

information and to use your personal information in accordance with all applicable laws

concerning the protection of personal information.

What type of information do we collect?

1.1 SAY Women has a number of services which process personal information in

accordance with this privacy policy. In supporting survivors of sexual violence we

collect sensitive information from the following services:

SAY Women’s Accommodation Service

 SAY Women’s Emotional Support Service

 SAY Women’s National Training

 SAY Women’s Trauma Informed Education Service

1.2 SAY Women is permitted by law to collect personal data if it is used by the

organisation for the legitimate business interest of the organisation and for a clear

purpose. In broad terms, our ‘legitimate interest’ means our interests in being able

to run SAY Women’s services and support sexually abused young women e􀆯ectively

thereby achieving our objectives. SAY Women will always ask for your explicit

consent to store personal information and tell you what we do with that information.

We do not sell any information about you to third parties, and your information is

always kept safely and securely. We will only collect the minimum amount of data

necessary for our legitimate interest. With your consent, we may also share

information with external support services where we have agreed data sharing

agreements, in order to operate our support services.

How we collect information:

2.2 SAY Women collects personal data e.g. your name, support needs, postal and email

addresses, when you give this information to us for various purposes. We may collect

information if you are referred to one of our support services, or complete an

application to take part in group work, training, or to volunteer with us. We may also

collect information for various purposes such as: if you donate to SAY Women, sign up

for an event, or apply for a job with us. We may also receive information about you from

third parties such as a referral source or websites such as Just Giving. Information

about you or your support needs is only received from third parties if you have given your

consent for this information to be passed on to SAY Women.

2.3 We will only send you marketing information electronically (e.g. by email, text/SMS,

social media) if you specifically agree to us doing so. You can change your marketing

preferences at any time by emailing enquires@say-women.co.uk or calling us on 0141

552 5803. If you ask us to stop sending marketing information we will update our

records to stop further mailings as quickly as possible. However, for up to 28 days you

may still receive further mailings which were already in progress prior to you asking us to

stop. We may send marketing information by post or call you for marketing purposes,

unless you have previously opted out or said that you don't want to be contacted. We

gather information about tra􀆯ic to and on our website and social media pages to

improve the sites and for marketing purposes.

2.4 We carry out data matching on people who support us through donating, fundraising

or campaigning. This means that we will combine information you have given us, such

as your postcode, with information from other sources. Consent 3. If we rely on consent

to process your data, you can withdraw your consent at any time. You can request a

copy of personal information that SAY Women has stored about you from our Data

Protection o􀆯icer. There may be a fee for this information. Once we have received your

request we will respond to you within 30 days.
